Married: Frances Hinely, daughter of Solomon and Hannah Hinely, on April 16, 1854,
in Effingham County, GA
The following information came from the July 3, 1860 Census.
- J. Pevy, age 28, male, mill hand
- F. Pevy, age 21, female
- J. J. Pevy, age 5, male (AKA Jasper James Pevy)
- T., age 3, female (This child does not appear on any later census. It is possible she died at an early age.)
- N., age 11/12 months, male
James Pevy enlisted in the Confederate Army. On December 12, 1863, he died at a hospital located in Griffin, GA.
that was formerly a female academy that had been converted to a hospital by the Confederate army. James Pevy is
buried at the Stonewall Confederate Cemetary.

After James Pevy's death, Frances married James O. Abbott. James Abbott and Frances are buried next to each other in the
Guyton Christian Church Cemetery, a small cemetary, on private property, located on Little McCall Rd. near Hwy 119, Guyton, GA.
(Until 1900, it was known as the Antioch Christian Church Cemetery.)
